These guys literally saved us. We had a huge tree hanging over the pavement and road causing an obstruction and could have fallen at anytime. Messaged Jon who moved a few jobs around to help us out at short notice. They turned up when they said they would even in the thick snow and worked tirelessly. All the lads were polite and respectful and really did save us from what could have been a nightmare. Will be using Arbor Aces again in the future.
Jonathan has to be the most honest and transparent tradesmen I have ever met. He came and gave me and my neighbour a price for the removal of an extremely large beech tree that my neighbour and I both wanted removing from her garden. He provided us both with copies of all his certificates, which included a search from WBC ensuring us that the tree didn’t have a preservation order on it. He also gave us a breakdown of the job with costs. The team of 3 arrived as planned, and methodically dismantled the huge tree. It was fascinating to watch. The team were polite, and respectful with both our properties, and the job took the 2 days as planned. I would highly recommend Willow Garden & Landscapes for any job, big or small, Jonathan is as good as his word.
Jonathon and Steve were very professional and really friendly guys. Jonathon came out to give me a quote and there was no pressure. A great job done trimming down one of our trees and no mess whatsoever left behind. Will be using again in the future. Thank you
Jonathan visited to provide a quote which was reasonable. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He also recommended another gardener for ongoing maintenance. They both have completed an excellent job on my garden and so tidy too. Couldn’t recommend enough!
I highly recommend these guys they helped us out so much last weekend with storms. They worked throughout the storms they were absolutely amazing, professional, courteous and gave us reassurance at all times. I would definitely use them again 5 star service

Frequently Asked Questions

When should you call a tree surgeon?
It’s wise to contact a tree surgeon when you notice any signs of distress in your trees. For example, if a tree has cracked or leaning trunks, large dead branches, or visible decay, these are strong indicators that professional advice is needed. You should also call a tree surgeon after severe weather or storms, as hidden damage can compromise a tree’s stability over time. Furthermore, if a tree is interfering with power lines, obstructing drainage, or posing a risk to nearby structures and pedestrians, it’s essential to seek expert assistance. By consulting a tree surgeon early, you can help ensure the safety and longevity of your trees while avoiding more costly remedial work later on.
What is the average cost for tree surgery?
The cost of tree surgery can vary widely depending on the size of the tree, the complexity of the work, and its location. In general, basic tree pruning or removal can range from around £100 to £2,000. However, larger or more hazardous jobs may exceed this range, especially if specialised equipment or emergency work is required. It’s important to obtain detailed quotes from several qualified professionals, ensuring that each estimate covers all aspects of the work—including site clearance and any necessary risk assessments. This way, you can make an informed decision that balances both quality and cost.
Do I need a tree surgeon?
If your trees are showing signs of disease, structural weakness, or if they’re located in a position that could endanger people or property, hiring a tree surgeon is highly recommended. A professional can offer routine maintenance such as pruning, health assessments, and even preventive treatments to extend the life of your trees. Even in the absence of visible problems, an annual or bi-annual check-up from a qualified tree surgeon can help spot potential issues before they become serious. Ultimately, investing in professional tree care not only preserves the beauty of your landscape but also significantly enhances safety.
When should you not cut trees?
There are several scenarios where cutting down a tree is not advisable. If the tree is healthy, stable, and not posing any imminent risk, it’s generally best to let it remain, as mature trees provide significant environmental benefits. Additionally, many trees are protected by local planning policies or Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), meaning you cannot remove them without the proper permissions. It is also important to avoid cutting trees during their nesting season or when they contribute significantly to local biodiversity. In such cases, professional advice is invaluable to determine the best course of action, ensuring that any intervention is both necessary and legally compliant.
How do you decide if you should cut down a tree?
Deciding whether to remove a tree requires a careful evaluation of several factors. First, assess the tree’s overall health—is there evidence of disease, decay, or structural damage? Next, consider its location in relation to buildings, power lines, and pedestrian areas. If the tree poses a clear risk, such as the potential to fall during a storm, removal might be the safest option. Additionally, think about whether the tree’s presence is affecting the growth or safety of neighbouring plants or structures. A professional risk assessment by a tree surgeon or arborist is often the best way to determine if removal is the most prudent choice, as they can offer tailored advice based on the tree’s condition and your specific circumstances.
How do I pick a tree surgeon and what questions should I ask?
Choosing the right tree surgeon is crucial for ensuring safe and effective work. Start by verifying that they are fully insured and hold recognised qualifications, such as membership of the Arboricultural Association. It’s also beneficial to check customer reviews and ask for references from previous clients. When speaking with potential tree surgeons, ask questions such as:
- What experience do you have with similar projects?
- Can you provide a detailed, written quote that includes all potential costs?
- How do you manage risk and ensure safety during the work?
- Will you conduct a full assessment of the tree’s health and structure before beginning?
- What aftercare advice or guarantees do you offer following the work?
These questions help ensure you’re selecting a professional who is not only experienced but also transparent and reliable, giving you peace of mind throughout the project.
